When Should Your Child Have Their Very First Dental Visit?
This is a question we often get asked here at Ladbroke Grove Dental Care. The answer is probably a lot earlier than you might imagine as you can bring your child into see our Ladbroke Grove dentist at age 1 or soon after they get that first tooth. We know this might seem very young but it’s the ideal age to begin regular dental care. During their first visit we are extremely gentle and all our staff love seeing young kids at our dental practice. That first visit is probably going to be a simple examination where our dentist will take just a quick peek inside their mouth to make sure everything is developing normally.
Early Dental Care Helps Your Child Grow up without Fears or Phobias
One of the nice things about bringing your child into see us at such an early age is that it is a great opportunity for them to begin getting used to the sights, sounds and smells associated with a dental practice at a time when they will not need any dental treatment and will not associate this visit with any discomfort. It’s been shown that the younger you bring your child to visit a dentist in Ladbroke Grove, the more likely they are to grow up without any dental fears or phobias. We do take extensive care to make sure that all children visiting our practice have a positive experience and we aim to make the appointment as much fun for them as possible.
Get Lots of Advice on How to Look after Your Child’s Teeth at Home
We believe strongly in preventative dental care and can work with you to make sure your child’s teeth and gums remain strong and healthy and free from disease right throughout childhood and we hope for life. To do this we can show you how to look after your child’s teeth, right after that very first tooth emerges through their gums. We can demonstrate the best way to clean their teeth and which tools and techniques to use. Please feel free to ask us anything you wish about your child’s oral care as we are here to help you. Initially you will need to clean your child’s teeth for them, but as they get older they will want to try to do it themselves and at this stage we can work with them to teach them the proper techniques to use.
Preventative Dental Care Is Definitely Best
As your child gets older we will need to see them regularly for check-ups and this is an easy way to help maintain good dental health. By seeing them at regular intervals our Ladbroke Grove dentist can pick up any small problems so they can be treated more easily and hopefully well before your child begins to feel any discomfort. We will also keep a close eye on how their teeth and jaws are developing and will be looking for signs of any problems with their bite. This is because quite often early orthodontics can be highly effective in treating problems, reducing or even eliminating the need for braces when they are in their teens.
If you would like your child to experience gentle dental care, then please contact our Ladbroke Grove dentist to book their visit. You can call us on 020 7727 9836.
