Sports Injuries & Mouthguards at Together Dental

Sports Injuries & Mouthguards at Together Dental

Have you suffered from dental damage or tooth loss whilst playing sports? Find out more about Sports Injuries & Mouthguards at Together Dental. Our team of experts are on hand to offer you the perfect solution for missing teeth; dental implants.

Many of our patients have had dental implant treatment for a variety of reasons, including professional athletes and those who play contact sports as a hobby.

According to The Oral Health Foundation, between 13% and 39% of all dental injuries in the UK are linked to accidents during sport; a figure which could be decreased with the right mouthguard.

Research shows that sports players are 60 times more likely to suffer harm to the teeth if they do not wear a protective mouthguard. Find out more about how our team of dentists can help restore your smile and prevent further sports-related mouth injuries.

Why choose dental implants?

Dental implants can restore your smile, your confidence and increase your ability to enjoy the foods you love. Our experts have placed thousands of implants, enabling patients with a wide range of dental needs to enjoy a new lease of life.

With the right care, dental implants can last up to twenty years at 93%, making it one of the most long-lasting treatments to restore your smile. Dental implants act just like your natural teeth and can improve everything from eating foods you love to improving your speech.

Preventing further tooth damage

For some athletes and sports players, it can be quite common to have one or more teeth cracked, chipped or knocked out whilst playing sports.

We are proud to offer custom-fit mouthguards to protecting your teeth whilst playing all kinds of sports. Not only is prevention better than the cure, it is also more affordable to protect your teeth than to replace them.

At Together Dental we are proud to offer mouth guards for patients who need extra protection for their mouth and teeth. Not only do mouthguards protect your mouth from unexpected impact, they can also prevent your bite from clamping down and damaging your teeth further. Our dentists offer custom mouthguards starting from just £150, a more affordable solution than needing further treatment down the line if you suffer injuries to your mouth and teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I replace a sports mouthguard?

Your mouthguard should be replaced approximately every six months. As mouthguards can get worn down over time, the protection can become less effective when they lose their thickness. To keep your mouth and teeth protected to the highest standard, we advise to check in with your dentist for a new mouthguard after 6 months of use.

What injuries to mouthguards prevent?

Mouthguards not only protect your teeth from cracks, chips and damage, they also protect your lips, gums, tongue, soft tissues and jaw. A custom-fit mouthguard is much more effective than a stock mouthguard that you may find online or in sports shops.

Can I drink water with my mouthguard in?

Yes, you can. We advise drinking water only when you are wearing your mouthguards. Avoid any other liquids, including hot drinks, carbonated beverages and drinks with added sugars.

Do mouthguards irritate the gums?

If you are having a fully custom-fit mouthguard created by a Together Dental clinician, then it will not irritate your gums or mouth. Mouthguards that are fitted to your bite and teeth shapes are the perfect way to solve the problem of gum irritation.

Where can I get a custom-fit mouthguard?

Custom-fit mouthguards are available at our Together Dental practices across Essex, London and Northeast Anglia. To find your nearest Together Dental clinic, you can use our practice finder here.
