Find Out More About Invisible Braces

Are you ready to find out more about Invisible Braces ? If your crooked teeth have seriously knocked your confidence and you find yourself shying away from social occasions and keeping your head down when you’re in the office, then perhaps it’s time to visit your orthodontist in Basildon. Just think what a difference an attractive smile would make to you and achieving a perfect smile isn’t as difficult as you might think.

Most people when they think of braces consider them the preserve of children and gangly teenagers.

However more adults than ever before are considering braces in Basildon for the simple reason that they’ve been told that metal braces are fast falling out of favour and being replaced by braces which are more discreet and virtually invisible. Sounds too good to be true, but trust us, systems such as Invisalign are designed specifically for adults who, because of their careers and a desire to look good, don’t want to be seen in public wearing a brace of all things!

Why would you want straight teeth?

Well, naturally you want your smile to look better but there’s a health reason too. It’s important to clean between teeth using a toothbrush and floss in order to remove trapped particles of food which if left can cause a build-up of plaque. Carrying out this sort of thorough cleaning is very difficult with crooked teeth and because of this may lead to oral health problems such as gum disease. So straight teeth are also healthy teeth.

How Invisalign works

Invisalign is a transparent aligner which sits right over your teeth. The procedure starts with your dentist in Basildon taking an impression of your mouth and sending it to Invisalign who then scan the results into their computer. From this the teeth are moved around on screen to create a perfect smile and the results sent back to your dentist so that you can see what your finished smile will look like.

The computer software then works out in what direction and how far each tooth needs to be moved to recreate that smile. All of the movements are then broken down into stages with each stage being represented by a different aligner. Your teeth are moved gently into position wearing the aligner and once each stage has been completed, normally around two weeks, the aligner is replaced with the next in the series until your teeth reach their final destination.

Invisalign is worn for a minimum of 24 hours a day and only removed for eating and cleaning your teeth. Due to its transparency only you and your dentist will know that you’re wearing it.
